This week Samuel Sheldon Ltd Millom have been focusing on a new building project in Askam. This is a full downstairs house refurbishment so it will be keeping us busy over the coming weeks. We are currently looking at how the business can move forward and we will be looking at expanding our work coverage area in the south of Cumbria, so look out for that bit of news over the next few months. At the moment we are still covering Millom and the Copeland areas which include but are not limited to, Eskdale, Haverigg, Ravenglass, Muncaster, Broughton in Furness, Barrow in Furness, Seascale, Askam, Bootle and Egremont.

Back to the house refurbishment in Askam, this building project had issues with damp downstairs so the first job was to damp proof the area and then complete new plastering and rendering. The property is also going to consist of a new kitchen refurbishment and a bathroom refurbishment. Once the refurbishment side of the building project has been completed, the next stage of the project will be to install a new boiler and pipework throughout the property. An oak staircase will also be fitted and we will produce bespoke oak furniture and an oak sliding door. This all comes under the joinery work that Samuel Sheldon Ltd carry out. We will also be carrying out the electrical work on the property and rewiring throughout downstairs.

This week Samuel Sheldon Ltd Millom has been working at St Bernard’s School in Barrow in Furness. This has been an ongoing project with a variety of building works carried out. To start with the building project was to completely refurbish the school gym, This consisted of replacing the windows with new UPVC windows, Plastering and rendering with a fresh coat of paint afterwards, this was due to the school unfortunately having issues with dampness in the premises. Next, Samuel Sheldon Ltd got to work on the outside of the school, replacing part of a roof as well as replacing the guttering which was done quickly and to professional high standards.

This week Samuel Sheldon Ltd Millom have been continuing with the house extension on Butler Street in Millom. We gave an update on this work in a previous blog and we are now ready to tell you how the work is progressing so far.

The house extension has progressed quickly and we have completed the most difficult parts of the project which included, the underpinning of the structure, drainage installed and concrete floor slabs are now in place. This now means we are ready to start building the superstructure part of the extension and we hope it will continue to progress promptly, ready for our customer to use their new facilities.

As mentioned in the previous blog, this will comprise of a disabled wet room and a bedroom extension, making it more accessible for our customer. This project is being funded by the Copeland borough council under their disabled facilities grant. Please do not hesitate to contact us if this is something you would like to speak about.

To finish off our blog this week we would just like to remind you of other building services we carry out, one being roofing services. Our team this week completed a new roof for a customer in Millom due to recent storm damage. We worked quickly and efficiently and completed this project in a week and left our customer very happy with the outcome.
