More project updates
This week at Samuel Sheldon Ltd, the team has been working hard on various building projects, and the work is progressing nicely. Let’s look at what has been happening behind the scenes.
We have a project in Barrow In Furness. It is a single-storey extension consisting of an assisted living washroom and utility area for a customer with limited mobility. We have selected brickwork to match the existing property. A lean-to roof has been installed, and new drainage to accommodate the new toilet and sink. The flooring has been insulated to comply with building regulations to ensure maximum energy efficiency. The following steps are for installing the low threshold door and window.
St Bees is still an ongoing project of a new garage plus some landscaping work. So far, the foundations are being dug out for the new garage to be built on, and the block work for the retaining wall has been completed to support the extended garage.
We are finally making some good progress with the house refurbishment in Coniston, the stairs are near completion regarding the plastering, and the bathroom and on-suite are in the progress of being fitted. The original plan at this property was to keep the original victorian floor tiles in the Dining room. Unfortunately, we have discovered dampness throughout, so we have had to dig the flooring up and replace the tiles. There is also an unvented water cylinder that will be the hot water source throughout the property.
Also, Askam is finally seeing progress made, the painters complete the bedrooms, and the joiners finish the final bits. The kitchen cupboards are made from oak veneered MDF to match the rest of the joinery on the property. Fitted bedroom furniture is also in the process of being put in place.
Lastly, St James School has made fantastic progress; all the classrooms are now fully plastered, and the steelwork is in place. The next stage is preparing for the brickwork to be completed.
